The holiday season is here, which means it is a great time to get something special for someone you love! Gifting plastic surgery can help to change someone’s life for the better, and help to boost their self-esteem. However, there are some things that you should consider for gifting such a personal present. Read on to learn more.

Things to Consider

If you are considering giving plastic surgery as a gift, there are some things you should keep in mind.

  • Do not suggest a plastic surgery procedure that the recipient has never mentioned.
  • Understand that you are actually giving the gift of a consultation with a board-certified plastic surgeon. Then, offer to pay for the surgery if both the surgeon and patient feel it is appropriate.
  • Do not secretly arrange surgery for your loved one- they must first go to a consultation to receive feedback from the surgeon.
  • Understand that giving the gift of plastic surgery may also come with acting as a caregiver during the recipient’s recovery period.

Plastic Surgery Stats

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS), the most commonly gifted plastic surgery procedures include liposuction, tummy tuck, facelift, and Botox/fillers. Also, millennials seem to be much more open to plastic surgery as a gift than older generations, with 37% of millennials and Generations Xers being “very willing” to talk to someone about cosmetic surgery as a gift, while only 25% of Baby Boomers would be willing to discuss surgery.

When choosing to give plastic surgery as a gift, make sure that the recipient has shown interested in a plastic surgery procedure before, and that you are not forcing the idea onto them. Remember, plastic surgery is a personal decision and should be done solely for personal reasons.
