What is Radiesse?

Radiesse is a calcium hydroxyapatite filler. This means that it’s composed of the same material found naturally in the bones and teeth. Injecting Radiesse instantly adds volume, but the product also works to stimulate growth of your own tissues and collagen. This means that results often last longer than with other filler products, with volume remaining for up to a year or longer. Like other fillers, however, the product is slowly broken down by the body over time.
Radiesse can treat many insecurities, and Dr. Shienbaum typically uses the product to enhance the appearance of the face or butt. It is a good option to fill in sunken areas of the face or to non-surgically contour and add volume to the buttocks.

There is no downtime associated with Radiesse treatment, but patients should avoid strenuous activity for the first 24-48 hours after their injections. Some mild swelling or bruising is also common, which lasts about one or two weeks.
