What is a Tummy Tuck?

A full tummy tuck involves an incision around the lower abdomen and also requires an incision near the navel. Once the incision is made, the extra skin will be removed while the muscle is tightened. The loose skin removed is often skin that has been compromised by weight gain, genetic laxity or pregnancies and is no longer able to contract. An ideal candidate for this procedure is someone who has excess volume in the abdominal area due to excess skin and not fat.
