Which is Right for You: Facelift or Botox?

Lines and wrinkles are an inevitable sign of aging. They occur when our skin starts to lose collagen and elastin with time. Today, there are a number of plastic and cosmetic surgery procedures and treatments that can work to take years off of your appearance. The two most popular are a facelift and Botox. However, these procedures differ in many ways. Read on to learn more about these options and how to tell which is right for you.

Facelift

A facelift procedure in Brandon is great for providing more significant and visible results. The procedure may involve removing excess skin, tightening loose skin, and lifting facial tissues or muscles for a more youthful facial appearance. Because this option is a surgical procedure, results are long-lasting (about 10 years) and are also more dramatic than non-surgical procedures. However, patients should also be aware that a facelift will result in a period of downtime of two weeks or more, and swelling and bruising will be present during recovery.

Botox

Botox in Brandon is a minimally-invasive facial rejuvenation option. These injections work by temporarily relaxing facial muscles that cause lines and wrinkles. Botox is especially great at addressing horizontal forehead lines, lines between the eyebrows, and crow’s feet. Treatment is quick- about 15 minutes, and there is no downtime needed. However, Botox results are temporary, so patients will need to continue injections with follow-up appointments every 3-6 months to maintain results.
