Women who have gone through pregnancy and childbirth may have issues with their new bodies. However, there is a solution in the mommy makeover, which can transform the body when dieting and exercise have not helped. The mommy makeover includes a variety of cosmetic or plastic surgery procedures to correct the problem areas of the body. Often, those procedures include a tummy tuck, breast augmentation, breast lift, and liposuction, but can include additional procedures tailored to each woman.

After the procedure, there is a recovery period. Interestingly, recovery from a mommy makeover is typically faster than if you have each individual surgery separately. You will have to see your doctor for follow-up visits as well. It’s important to know what you can do to have a normal recovery and what to expect.

Get Help at Home

You will need someone at home to help you after your mommy makeover. For at least the first 24 to 48 hours after your procedure, you’ll need help with daily tasks and even for otherwise simple things like getting out of bed or getting dressed. Have someone care for your kids or help you with them for two or three weeks and perform household duties for you.

Walk

Walking around can help your body to heal faster after a mommy makeover. As long as Dr. Shienbaum says it’s safe, you can take a short walk to aid your recovery. It helps to prevent stiffness and blood clot formation and decreases swelling.

Prepare Your Recovery Area

Before your procedure, you should designate a recovery area that should be comfortable. You should have plenty of blankets and pillows on hand in an area where you can enjoy entertainment. You should also have a nightstand or table beside your bed and wear loose-fitting garments. You may even want a toilet seat booster in some cases. You should be off from work for around two weeks during this time.

Follow Post-Op Instructions

Follow all of the instructions your doctor gave you for your post-op recovery. Most complications arise due to patients not following the instructions. Your doctor gives you the best advice possible after your surgery to ensure that you have a smooth recovery with no complications. You will have to have follow-ups as well so the doctor can check to see whether you’re healing well.

Don’t Push Yourself Too Hard

Although you’re a mom and moms can do so much, it’s important not to push yourself too hard. While you’re recovering from your mommy makeover, it’s OK to take a break and slow down. It can help aid your recovery process. Don’t take on all of your normal activities while you’re still recovering as it can work against you and impede your progress.
