When it comes to breast augmentation in Naples, there are many decisions that need to be made. Do you want the implant placed over or under the muscle? Which incision pattern will you use? While these questions are important, one of the biggest decisions made is which type of breast implant will be used. Read on to learn more about your breast implant options for breast augmentation.

Silicone Implants

Silicone implants are comprised of a silicone shell filled with a silicone gel. These implants feel closest to natural breast tissue, and can be used to augment the breasts in patients 22 years of age or older. In the case that a silicone implant was to rupture, it may not be apparent, since silicone implants keep their shape. A visit to your surgeon is needed ASAP to replace the ruptured implant, as the silicone gel cannot be absorbed by the body.

Saline Implants

Saline implants are made with a silicone shell and are filled with a saline solution. FDA-approved for use in women over the age of 18, silicone implants have a firmer consistency. In the case that a saline implant was to rupture, it would be apparent since the implant would deflate. The saline solution would be safely absorbed by the body.

Breast implants in Brandon also come in textures and smooth forms and can be placed on top of or under the chest muscle. A consultation with Dr. Shienbaum can help to best determine which type of breast implant is right for you and your aesthetic goals.
