The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) released their annual plastic surgery statistics for 2016, and it revealed that Americans are looking to improve their body shape and facial features with an overall three percent growth in cosmetic procedures last year! In particular, ASPS found that patients are looking to more natural materials for cosmetic enhancement.

Using Fat Transfer for Enhancement

Whether it’s transferring it to another part of the body or using it to enhance facial features, patients are turning to fat transfer in Brandon, FL, for their cosmetic desires. The data show a new trend and importance of the role of natural fat in cosmetic surgery.

Fat transfer, also known as fat grafting, takes a gentle form of liposuction and suctions out unwanted fat from a problem area. The fat is then purified and reinjected into the treatment area, whether it is the face, buttock, or breasts. Purified fat is a more appealing option, most likely due to slimming a problem area, while also using natural material, unlike traditional fillers or implants that are not deemed permanent solutions.

Increase in Statistics

According the statistics from ASPS, minimally invasive fat injections or facial fat grafting in Lakeview, increased by 13 percent in 2016. Additionally, buttock augmentation using fat transfer (Brazilian Butt Lift) increased 26 percent and natural breast augmentation increased by an outstanding 72 percent.

Non-surgical or minimally invasive procedures have seen a large increase since it is ideal for a broad range of patients, especially those not ready for full surgery. Even though it’s non-surgical, patients should still seek out a board-certified plastic surgeon in Tampa to ensure your ideal results.

The Top Cosmetic Surgeries of 2016

This year, surgical procedures grew at a higher rate of four percent than non-surgical cosmetic enhancements. While the most popular cosmetic surgeries stayed the same, including breast augmentation up four percent, and liposuction up 6 percent from 2015, the other three included enhancements to the face (rhinoplasty, eyelid surgery, and facelifts).

One surgery is getting a lot of attention – the labiaplasty. For the first time, ASPS included statistics regarding labiaplasty, which increased 39 percent in 2016 with more than 12,000 procedures performed nationwide. As the plastic surgery industry becomes more diverse, more individuals are finding different areas of the body to improve aesthetically. Patients also find that they have ongoing relationships with their plastic surgeon, feeling more comfortable talking about other areas where they desire rejuvenation.
