Facelift or Botox: Which is Right for You?

Botox

Botox is a nonsurgical injection that is made up of botulinum type A. It works by blocking nerve signals that tell facial muscles to contact. These contractions can cause lines and wrinkles over time. Botox is most commonly used on lines and wrinkles on the forehead, between the eyebrows, and at the corners of the eyes. There is no downtime involved and results last from 3-6 months. However, because Botox is a nonsurgical treatment option, it is best for those with lines only in their forehead area and those who do not have a lot of lax skin. Also, results will not be as dramatic as those of a facelift.

Facelift

A facelift is a comprehensive solution to facial sagging, lines, and wrinkles. During the treatment, sagging skin will be removed, tissues and muscles will be re-draped, and skin will be tightened. It provides more significant and visible results than Botox, and results can last for 10 years or more. However, it does require downtime for healing.
