Over the years, cosmetic plastic surgery in Florida has only grown in popularity. Since the 1990s, plastic surgeons in the US have reported an astonishing 600% rise in the number of procedures performed across the nation. In 2014 alone, the estimated amount spent on cosmetic procedures was close to $12 billion. There is no slowing down in the future for this industry!

There is certainly a change in the Plastic Surgery industry though; the kind of cosmetic   procedures that are being performed are changing. You could be surprised with some of the latest and unexpected trends! Here is a quick look at some of them:

Adding the Fat Back In

Many people associate plastic surgery with losing fat, but with Liposuction being one of the most popular procedures today, there has been a new change. Many Tampa Bay    Florida patients are asking their surgeons to add fat to their bodies in particular areas.

With aging, people lose fat in their faces which could lead to a narrowed appearance, causing people look older than they really are. Today, more and more patients are requesting facial fat injections, making it a most popular procedure for many of Dr.    Shienbaums Lakeland and Riverview patients.

Rise in Booty Demands

2014 saw the who’s who flaunting their well-endowed behinds…the likes of Iggy Azalea, Kim Kardashian and Nicki Minaj have made many in the Brandon, FL area come in for Buttock Augmentation throughout the year. Even though the number of people who underwent procedures like the Brazilian Butt Lift was only about 21,000; this was still a 90% increase from 2013.

Increase in Labiaplasty

One of the surprises of the year has been Labiaplasty, which has even left the experts stumped. Mostly, women opt for the procedure to get smaller or smoother labia’s in an attempt to give them appealing shapes. With the increase in awareness of the procedure, the number of women who underwent labiaplasty in 2014 rose to an astonishing 8,000.

The Old Favorites Remain

Even though these new procedures have seen a sharp rise, they are still a long way from being the top cosmetic procedures. The top ranking procedures are still Rhinoplasty and Breast Augmentation. These have remained the top two cosmetic procedures in the United States and surpassed the half a million mark last year.

Cosmetic plastic surgery is not very different from any other industry out there. Fashions and trends come and go. Nobody knew ten years back that buttock augmentation or facial fat injections would become this popular; and nobody can say for sure what could be trending ten years from now in the Tampa Bay area.
